​​Shaunna Scott is Associate Professor Emerita in the Sociology Department at the University of Kentucky. Trained as a cultural anthropologist, Dr. Scott has experience in teaching, research, and administration. Dr. Scott’s research interests include social movements for peace and environmental justice, gender, class, community development, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has taught courses on theory, research methods, Appalachia, and gender. She is a Past President of the Appalachian Studies Association.​

Kimberly Holzmann-Krolick is a finance and accounting leader spanning public accounting, high-growth startups, and mission-driven organizations. She serves as Controller of a $350 million charter school organization where she sits on the senior management team leading an organization-wide restructuring and procurement overhaul. She has developed a revenue model behind a $31 million climate tech offtake agreement, served as outsourced Director of Finance for nonprofits with over $1 billion in net assets, and advised major clients on tax matters at a Big Four firm. Kimberly is a New York CPA and former Board Treasurer of Hilltop Hanover Farm and Environmental Center.

Dr. Seegar graduated from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1984. He spent more than three decades as a pediatrician and served as Medical Director at Pendleton Community Care, a nonprofit health clinic in Franklin, WV. He was a pioneer in expanding access to healthcare for children and families in rural communities, including establishing care directly within Pendleton County schools. In the 1970s, he was a founding trustee of the Woodlands Institute, now known as Experience Learning, an outdoor learning center on West Virginia’s Spruce Knob, where he continues to serve as Board Member Emeritus.

Barbara Ellen Smith comes from a long line of preachers and farmers in Virginia and West Virginia. She is the author or editor of four books and numerous articles on labor, gender, race, and social movements in Appalachia and the South, including Digging Our Own Graves: Coal Miners and the Struggle over Black Lung Disease (Haymarket, 2020). She is the mother of two sons and lives in Charleston, WV, where she is working on a novel set in southern WV.
