Jacob Johnson

Jacob is a University of Kentucky graduate student pursuing an M.A. in History as an advisee of Prof. Kathryn Newfont. He is interning with us through the University of Kentucky Appalachian Research Center’s “AppalCorps” program. Jacob is from Wheelwright, Floyd County, KY --- the one time Inland Steel company town. A proud “scholar from the holler,” his interests include EKY environmental history (particularly mountain top removal and the American Chestnut), commons, and the intersection of labor and civil rights movements in Appalachia.
