About the event
On both the Kentucky and West Virginia side of the Tug Fork River, people are concerned about the health and cleanliness of the waterway. They see the discoloration and the abandoned tires and wonder how the river got this way. While certain sections are great for kayaking and fishing, far too much of the Tug Fork River is too polluted for local people to fully enjoy its full potential benefits!
There is good news though! People in (WV) Wayne, Mingo, McDowell, and (KY) Lawrence, Martin, and Pike are getting organized and dedicating themselves to cleaning up the river and making it more accessible for people to fish, boat, and swim. We are gathering on June 18th at the Southern West Virginia community and Technical College to coordinate our efforts and learn more about the river we love.
